Home
The Grammy Nominated R&B artist Brian Mcknight, who is known for serenading the world with love songs like One Last Cry, Love is, Back at one, Anytime, sings a song of serenade once more, but this time he sings for the Lord. The song Home is based on Psalm 51.
“Home”
Thinking back when we first met
I remember what you said
You said you’d never leave meI let go of your hand
Built my castle in the sandBut now I’m reachin’ out again
And I’m not letting go
Till youHold me
Mold me
Sometimes I feel so all alone
See, I gotta find my way back home
So why don’t you
Shape me
make me
Wash me whiter than the snow
I gotta find my way
Back homeMaster upon my knees i pray
I just want to be the clay
Put your arms around me
Place my life in your hands
Lord, I know I’m just a man
I know you understand*
This time I’m not letting go
Till youAnoint me
Appoint me
Sometimes I feel so alone
See, I gotta find my way back home
So why don’t you
Chastise me
Baptize me
Wash me whiter than the snow
I gotta find my way‘Cause I’m lost and alone
I’ve been wandering
Long enough to know
Humbly I search for you
And I’m not gonna rest
Till youChoose me
Use me
Sometimes I feel so alone
I’m on my way back homeSo why don’t you
Direct me
Bless me
Wash me whiter then the snow
I’m on my way
Back home
All that we needed, God had provided. However, it seems that what He has given us is not enough. We walked away from His love and wandered off until the glittering lights of this deceitful world lured us. When we wake up from its spell we are left empty, lost and alone. With no one to turn to, nowhere to go to, we think of Him. Our hearts say “it’s time to go home“, but how does one go back when one is filled with shame and guilt?
The enlightenment of the heart chastens the soul. It wipes out pride and insolence and all that’s left is our true selves. In surrender, we allow Him to shape us into the right mold, to anoint, chastise and wash us whiter than the snow to be once more worthy to be baptized of His love.
Now, it’s time to take that familiar road once again where the Father patiently waits with hope in his heart. The door is open; He has prepared a clean robe, a ring, sandals to wear, and a feast to celebrate our return. His heart welcomes us back, back home to where we belong.
