The Youth Gives Thanks!
I was clicking, clicking, clicking and clicking through my photos folder and stopped. This photo made me stop my clicking madness. It made me smile. I can still remember how great this day was and how exhilarating the whole experience was. Please allow me to flashback.
It was a few weeks before the thanksgiving party, a few elders were asking if we have prepared something for the kids or if the Youth ministry has something to present. At that time all we could say is “we are planning something”. For days we have been rattling our brains and each other’s heads, throwing ideas here and there. We wanted to do something that would inspire everyone. Unfortunately, the ideas that we thought of required time, practice and manpower. Since we didn’t have time, we dropped the idea of preparing a presentation and just create games for the kids. I felt everyone involved was not really satisfied with the decision but it was the most realistic thing to do, until one Sunday…
“Hand mime? “This feeble suggestion was met with eager bobbing nods from P and F. Not expecting their eager answer. I said, “Seriously?” they bobbed their heads with a big smiles on their faces. The others seemed to like the idea and were willing to help out. With hope and inspiration we started to get things rolling. We had two Sundays to prepare everything. There were concerns and worries during those two Sundays however; those worries were washed out with encouraging words, hope, determination and faith in the Lord. It was amazing to see everyone working together. How everyone shared their skills, knowledge and heart to this project. There was great synergy. It was truly inspiring.
Our simple hand mime presentation was not worth a tony award but it was filled with love and inspiration from God. It was fulfilling to hear that everyone was touched by it.
Looking back, there is a purpose why God allowed this event to happen. It’s not only to inspire everyone but it is also God’s way to allow us to discover and to rediscover ourselves and each other .furthermore, this serves as a prelude to bigger things that he has prepared for us. So, let’s hold each other’s hand, let us be each other’s strength, let us work together, let us walk in his path and bask in his love that is beyond our imagination.
