What Makes You Believe?
Belief makes things real makes things feel alright. Belief makes things true. Things like you, you and I. – BELIEF by Gavin deGraw
I remember back in college my favorite professor asked me if I believed in God or if there is a higher being that exists.
I said yes in a heartbeat.
And when he asked me why, I told him that the world works so systematically. Every single creation has its role. The beauty of nature can’t be put into words. (Every time I see the full moon on a clear night sky, I just sit back and I appreciate the beauty of it. I don’t even try to describe how beautiful it looks like. I could try but I don’t think I will give it justice.) No man, not even Science can explain how every single detail of every single creation fits so perfectly in this place called Earth. Science has tried but it took years of study. Do you remember what is stated in the good book? The world was created in 6 days. Days not years. If all of these are Science, it would not take years for them to give an explanation.
Answered prayers and little voices
I like spending some time alone, do a reflection or just simply break free from the world even for just a brief amount of time. I have my moments. One time, I wished for something, I hoped for an answer because I know for some reason, Someone is listening. It’s not something big or life changing. Simple things like wishing the traffic on the way home is not going to be that heavy (in Las Piñas, it’s something you have to wish for) and hoping that when I wake up the next day, I’ll be able to figure out what I have to do. Guess what? The traffic was light. I had a full 8-hour sleep which helped me have a beautiful day, ending up making the right choice.
Things don’t have to be huge for us to believe. If we can’t learn to appreciate the little things that God is giving us, I don’t think he can trust us enough to bless us with big, life-changing things. Most of the time, less IS more.
When “almost-accidents” happen, whenever I say “buti na lang” (at least), I know there’s Someone that gave me instructions on what to do. I didn’t get into an accident because I knew the right turn; I actually almost hit the wall. It’s not because I remembered to bring an umbrella, I actually almost forgot. I call those “little voices”. For me it’s one of the million ways God communicates to us; another one good reason for me to believe.
Everything in our world today has to be tangible. What happened to Faith? Belief? Some of the most beautiful things in this world need not be seen. The most substantial ones are the ones that are felt, the ones that you don’t see but you know you have: Faith, Hope and Love.
You? What makes you believe?

hmmm… right, it doesn’t have to be huge for someone to believe! we just have to appreciate every little thing and be God thankful for it. ;’)
